Q: How much does homeschool math tutoring cost?

I aim to provide value-focused pricing for my online math tutoring services. You can find a detailed list of my pricing here. Prices range from $65-$85 per one-hour session depending on the tutoring package you select. Larger packages offer better per-session rates, making them ideal for families committed to long-term math confidence building.
My current tutoring packages are: 4 sessions for $280 ($70/session), 8 sessions for $540 ($67.50/session), and 12 sessions for $780 ($65/session). I now also offer a flex tutoring package that allows you to buy 4 online math tutoring sessions for $320 that can be used whenever you need them instead of on a weekly schedule.
Your tutoring package covers 50-60 minute online tutoring sessions, personalized lesson plans, weekly recap emails, and personalized support when needed.
Q: Do you take ClassWallet payments?

Yes, I am currently an approved online math tutoring vendor for the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (AZ ESA) and the Idaho Empowering Parents program. This means you can use your ClassWallet funds to pay for your homeschool math tutoring. I have also begun the application process for accepting ClassWallet funds in other states. If you have funds you wish to spend on my services, please reach out and I can make sure I’m on the approved vendor list.
Q: Can online math tutoring work for homeschoolers?

Absolutely! I help many homeschoolers find math success each year. The online math tutoring model is great for homeschool families who enjoy flexibility to do school from anywhere, and ensures your child can have consistent math instruction no matter the circumstance. Online homeschool math tutoring means that we can work as a team to help your child meet their math goals while also increasing their confidence and positive math mindset. Working with an individual math tutor instead of a large company means that we can work with your selected math curriculum and pacing instead of relying on a pre-set curriculum and pacing guide.
Q: What math curriculum do you use for homeschool students?

I don’t have a set math curriculum that I use for homeschool students. Instead, I aim to meet your child where they are and focus on their unique goals. This means we can use the math curriculum you’ve already selected, or focus on filling gaps through targeted personalized instruction. Each week I plan a math tutoring session specifically for your homeschooler based on their needs, curriculum, and homeschooling goals. For students who need supplemental work for days they don’t have tutoring, I assign work that helps them practice the concepts we’re learning in tutoring. This is often through PDFs that I send directly to you, or through assigned Khan Academy exercises.
Q: We had a bad experience with online school. Is this any different?

I can help! The benefit of homeschool math tutoring is that we don’t have to be tied to a grade level when it comes to your child’s math instruction. Here’s how I handle each case
Students that are behind - Based on conversations with you, work samples, and informal assessments, I will choose core concepts to focus on to help your child build their math foundation. This may mean we work one to two grade levels below their age at first with the goal of helping them close the gap at a pace that works for them.
Students that are ahead - To keep these students challenged and engaged in their homeschool math work, we will typically begin working on concepts that are above their grade level. We will also extend or expand what they’re learning with their current curriculum with puzzles, problems, and explorations that take them further and pique their interest. If you want your child to work through grade levels at their own accelerated pace, we will continue to introduce new concepts as they master grade level standards.
Q: Do you provide progress reports for homeschool records?

Yes. With advance communication I can provide records based on what your state or homeschool authority requires. This includes but isn’t limited to letters, lesson plans, progress reports, or work samples.
Each week you will receive an email from me recapping my session with your child, my observations, and where we will focus in the coming week. This keeps you informed on your child’s progress and allows you to ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have.
Q: Can you help my child with their online homeschool math class?

Absolutely. If your child is struggling with their online homeschool math class, I can help them review the concepts and work through their homework. Each week we will check in with your child’s math course and ensure they’re caught up on the lessons, have their work turned in, and answer any questions they have regarding the material. This is also a great chance to pass off the duty of making sure your child gets their math work done if it’s been a sticking point in your homeschool year.
Q: How do you handle multiple children from one family?

I love working with families! When I’m working with homeschool siblings, we will usually schedule back-to-back sessions on the day and time that works best for everyone. This also allows for flexibility when it comes to the order in which kids attend their tutoring sessions based on their needs that day.
I do not currently offer family discounts for online math tutoring services. In order to offer the best personalized education experiences, I keep my pricing the same for everyone. I do allow families to share tutoring packages between siblings. Therefore, you can use a 12 session package and split it between your kids for the lowest pricing.
Q: How often should my homeschooler meet with a math tutor?

My baseline suggestion is for homeschool math students to meet with me weekly. This allows us to build a good working relationship while consistently covering core math skills. Meeting at the same day and time each week incorporates math tutoring into your homeschool schedule and helps your child know exactly what to expect.
Some homeschool families opt to meet twice a week to work toward their homeschool math goals. Twice weekly tutoring allows for more math instruction, and often means that I am the main point of contact for the student’s math education. Twice weekly tutoring is great for students who need to close math learning gaps or want to accelerate their learning.
Q: Can we pause tutoring during homeschool breaks?

You’re in control of your child’s education and can always take a math tutoring pause. I’m always happy to give homeschool math families a one or two week break when they travel or have school breaks. I just request that you give me as much advance notice as possible.
If you wish to take a longer break from tutoring, I can’t guarantee that your preferred day/time will be held. If your break is three weeks or longer, we can discuss your plan for returning and whether your spot is likely to be open when you return. You can find my detailed scheduling and cancellation policies here.
Q:Do you offer flexible scheduling for homeschool families?

I offer a variety of morning and afternoon time slots to fit your unique homeschool schedule. This availability allows you to schedule your child’s regular tutoring around their homeschool routines, classes and commitments. I know that sometimes daily schedules change, and I’m always open to communication about upcoming scheduling needs. As long as we communicate ahead of time, we can often find a scheduling solution that works for you.
For one-time schedule changes such as field trips and vacations we can reschedule the session or credit your account if advanced notice is provided.
Q: What technology do we need for online homeschool math tutoring?

Online homeschool math tutoring will be through Zoom. This platform allows us to meet face-to-face. When meeting for online homeschool math tutoring, your child will be able to access interactive and visual math tools while controlling the screen. This technology also allows us to easily view pictures or PDFs of your child’s math curriculum if needed.
To access online math tutoring your child will need a working laptop. Tablets and chromebooks can run the Zoom application, but will not allow your child to control the screen - which is an essential part of our sessions. For optimal math learning your child will also need a set of headphones with a microphone built in so that we can hear each other well. A mouse is also recommended for easier navigation and to use games and drag and drop manipulatives.
You can learn more about online tutoring and how it works here.
Q: My child might need help with their homeschool math homework- how do you do that online?

We can definitely help your child with their homework online! Most students or their parents text or email pictures of their homework assignments. Your tutor can then bring up the picture on their computer and work with your child while sharing their screen so they can both see the image and write on it together.
